چکیده

Herbicides, Photosynthesis, Diphenylether, Inhibitors, Plastoquinone Several substituted diphenylethers were found to be effective inhibitors of photosynthetic electron flow in isolated thylakoid membranes from spinach chloroplasts. Their site of inhibition was localized with artificial acceptor and donor systems. The phenylether of an alkyl substituted nitrophenol is primarely inhibiting electron flow after plastoquinone function whereas a dinitrophenylether of a phenyl substituted nitrophenol is inhibiting before plastoquinone function. Therefore certain diphenylethers interfere with plastoquinone function at the oxidation or reduction site, depending on the substitution.

Inhibition of Photosynthetic Electron Flow by Phenol and Diphenylether Herbicides in Control and Trypsin-Treated Chloroplasts

Alkyl substituted 2-halogen-4-nitro-phenols (like bromonitrothymol) are potent inhibitors of photosynthetic electron flow in chloroplasts. There inhibition site is identical to that of DCMU, though the phenols do not contain their essential chemical element responsible for inhibition nor do they follow their correlation of chemical structure and biochemical function. Binding of labelled metribu...

Inhibition of Photosynthetic Electron Transport by Halogenated 4-Hydroxy-pyridines

Herbicidal halogen substituted 4-hydroxypyridines are inhibitors of photosynthetic electron flow in isolated thylakoid membranes by interfering with the acceptor side of photosystem II. Tetrabromo-4-hydroxypyridine, the most active compound found, has a pl50-value of 7.6 in the inhibition of oxygen evolution in both the reduction of an acceptor of photosystem I and an acceptor of photosystem II...

Quantitative Structure Activity Relationship of Diphenylamines as Inhibitors of Photosynthetic Electron Transport and Photophosphorylation

Diphenylamines, Inhibitors, Photosynthetic Electron Transport A number of 16 substituted diphenylamines have been tested for their inhibitory activity on photosynthetic NADP reduction and photophosphorylation. The most active compounds exhibited p l50 values of 6.0 in photosynthetic electron transport and 6.8 in cyclic photophosphorylation, respectively. The inhibition site in electron flow of ...

Pyrrolones, Site of Action, Structure-Activity Relations, Photosynthetic Electron Transport, Herbi cidal Action Substituted phenyl-hydroxy pyrrolone derivatives are potential herbicides and are found to be effective inhibitors of photosynthetic electron flow in chloroplasts. Their site of inhibition is localized at the acceptor side of photosystem II similar to DCMU. They have no effect on pho...
